The Baylor Review (“we”, “us”) respects your privacy. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and your choices.
This app is an independent student project and is not affiliated with Baylor University.
Information We Collect
- Account information — e.g., email, display name, class year, major (you provide these).
- User content — reviews, ratings, messages, and reports you submit.
- Usage data — app interactions, device and OS version, app version, timestamps.
- Diagnostics — crash logs and performance data to improve stability.
We do not collect your precise location, photos, contacts, or camera/microphone data.
How We Use Your Information
- Provide and improve core features (accounts, professor reviews, messaging).
- Moderate user-generated content for safety and compliance.
- Understand app performance and fix bugs.
- Communicate service updates and respond to support requests.
Legal Basis & Age
We process your data to provide the service you request and for our legitimate interests (e.g., safety, improvement).
The app is for any users 4+. If you are under 4, do not use the app.
Sharing
- Service providers — We use trusted vendors to operate the app (e.g., Firebase Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Crashlytics, optional Analytics). They process data on our behalf.
- Legal — We may disclose information if required by law or to protect rights, safety, and integrity of the service.
- No selling — We do not sell your personal information.
Data Retention
We keep personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to operate the app, resolve disputes, and meet legal obligations.
You may delete your account at any time (see “Your Choices”).
Your Choices & Rights
- Delete account — Use Settings → Delete Account to request deletion. This removes your personal data from active systems subject to lawful retention needs.
Security
We use industry-standard safeguards including encryption in transit and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
International Users
Data may be stored and processed in the United States or where our providers operate, with appropriate protections.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy. Material changes will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date and, when appropriate, in-app notices.
